Happy New Year!!! And what a way to start the year.

Happy Birthday to Sergio - who celebrated his birthday 'unofficially' by going skiing. Images to come.

We also celebrated with new year with.... Drum roll please....

a new (used) van that we can take him where ever he wants to go. Images to follow soon.. I promise.

Jennifer Eicholz and friends held a multi family garage sale held Sept 16th.
$270.00 was raised.

Sergio spoke to NYCOM's (New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, at NYIT) First Year Medical students.
He was welcomed and for his first speaking engagement - it went really well.

He spoke on his accident and diversity issues. He was accompanied by Alex, a mentor and paraplegic who also spoke on his injuries and how his life is today.

An impromptu 50/50 raffle was held at a luau – family party.
The winners: Darek Radonski and Thomas Fulop generously donated their winnings back to Sergio’s Fund. We Thank You!!!

On Saturday he took public transportation from Queens to his Brother's house in Massapequa. All by himself!!

On Saturday, October 21st there will be a night of comedy at the Bellmore Fire house.
Please join us in raising funds for Sergio’s Recovery Fund.
All proceeds go towards medical and adaptive equipment for Sergio.

We are happy to announce that Sergio will be address the first year students at the
New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, at NYIT.
He will discuss his injury and patient care from his perspective.

The video will be available after the engagement. Sadly this is not open to the public.

RIDE FOR SERGIO - THIS WEEKEND AT DIABLO FREERIDE PARK
Diablo Freeride Park would like to invite you to join us this weekend in a fundraising effort to assist Sergio Acevedo, a local rider recently injured while riding in New York.
Diablo Freeride Park will be raffling-off nearly $2,000 in mountain bike product in an effort to raise funds for www.sergiosfund.org.

On behalf of the entire Diablo crew, I wanted to thank everyone for helping our fundraising efforts for Sergio. With your help we were able to raise $2,179 this weekend!! Again, we can't thank you enough for your kindness and consideration.

Great News Even though it is not Paid in Full, Sergio got his chair.

As quoted in an e-mail from his Sister -in-Law:

"He just got his new wheels and of course is starting trouble! He is able to move the wheelchair by movement of his head so he decided to take it out for a test drive. Unfortunately, he failed to tell the nurses and left the building for two hours. Everyone was frantic - except Sergio! His body may be injured but his spirit sure isn't.

The chair is the first step. Now we need to find a van that can fit Sergio's wheelchair. The need for adaptive care is endless. That is why we are so grateful to have people like you supporting Sergio during this transitional period in his life.

Thank you again. Your kindness and generosity goes above and beyond."

The Flea Market went well. We will be donating that which did not sell.
